Riding Lessons

Lessons

At Living Wells Farm, we make lessons FUN! Our teaching philosophy is focused on educating riders on the “whole horse.” We believe that horsemanship requires more than just knowledge in the saddle; it begins on the ground and in the heart. We value natural horsemanship to work systematically with the horse’s nature and with our desire to create relationships with these majestic creatures.

Our Program

Our lesson program focuses on individualized instruction. Much of your first lessons will be spent on the ground, learning how to handle your lesson horse. You’ll learn about haltering and leading, grooming and tacking, and proper safety techniques when interacting with horses. The more confident and competent you are around horses, the better your relationship will be moving forward. If you are calm and safe, your horse will feel calm and safe, and you will feel successful as a rider.

We offer lessons in several disciplines, including beginner level dressage, which is considered to be the “highest expression of horse training.” It is an art of riding that maximizes the horse’s natural athleticism and develops his willingness to work, his flexibility, and his attention to his rider. We also offer English, hunter/jumper, and beginner Western. Our instructor is a proficient trail rider, and encourages her students to experience riding outside the schooling ring. Our specialty at Living Wells Farm is teaching kids and adults “from the ground up.”

Depending on your experience level, first time riders will be on the lunge line for safety reasons, but we will challenge you to improve with every lesson!

At Living Wells Farm we know your family time is important. Learning to ride together as a family creates great memories! Family lessons and activities are available.
